 I had a test branch trying to solve this, here:

 thread/

 but it didn't solve the issue yet on OP's setup, though.

 I guess I'll have to set up a test environment dedicated to this, but I
 won't have the bandwidth for this for now.

 AFAICS, the release builds don't show this issue on official
 Tiger/Leopard, so this issue doesn't look critical, to me. But I'd like to
 get this fixed at some point.
