Compared to running the game in WinUAE, the turrets in the game all seem
to have effectively infinite range, or at least much longer range than in
the original game. This makes the game massively harder, verging on
impossible as many are supposed to not be able to hit the player unless
they get too close.
A good example of this is the Emerald room. The player is meant to stick
to the perimeter of the room and they are effectively safe and cannot be
shot apart from in a handful of situations. In ScummVM this doesn't work
as turrets across the room can still hit the player. Even worse, in this
room the turrets are meant to have quite a short range, so that if the
player approaches the central diamond structure from the correct door
(with the non-working laser in front of it), they are out of range of the
others and can safely advance to the middle of the room to place the
drill. In ScummVM this is impossible, the player will be in range of the
lasers to the left and right and will get ripped to pieces in seconds,
making the game impossible to complete.
Another example is the Topaz room. If the player rotates the laser here to
use the lift, it can shoot the player the instant they come in the door
from Amethyst. This doesn't happen in the original Amiga version.
