English PowerPC version from the LucasArts Macintosh Archives Vol. 1.
When starting the game, one note of the Indy fanfare isn't played. Trying
to debug, it seems that `NewMacSoundSystem::allocateChannel()` fails to
allocate a channel for it. Perhaps they are saturated by the initial drum
roll, or something like that.
I can't believe this would have gone unnoticed at LucasArts, so it's
probably a ScummVM bug. And it probable stems from the fact that I tried
to improve ScummVM support for the PowerPC version by sheer guesswork. At
the time, I did not even own a copy of the game, which made things tricky.
The `IMuseDriver_Macintosh` constructor is supposed to create the
appropriate sound device, and set some appropriate parameters. There is
`DJMSoundSystem` for the Eric Johnston Mac Ports, and `NewMacSoundSystem`
for the Aaron Giles ones. There are only three games that use
`NewMacSoundSystem`: Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max, and Fate of Atlantis.
Fate of Atlantis was the only game that was ported by both of them.
The device is further configured by setting a couple of parameters,
including a version number. Sam & Max uses version 2, everything else
currently uses version 1.
Judging by the time stamps on my CDs, Sam & Max and Day of the Tentacle
were made around the same time, with Fate of Atlantis arriving a few
months later. So does the version number reflect chronology, or is Sam &
Max different because it uses a different version of iMUSE itself?
As an experiment, I tried changing Fate of Atlantis to use version 2, but
that made things worse.
