New description:

In Chapter 1, Valanice can walk outside the normal walkable area and onto
the desert statue after examining its necklace, closing the close-up, and
starting toward the northern exit. While she is walking toward that exit,
clicking on the statue’s body can redirect her onto the statue itself. Her
sprite also becomes unusually small, as shown in the attached screenshot.

 Steps to reproduce:

Go to the desert statue beside the pool in Chapter 1.

Examine the statue’s neck/necklace to open its close-up.

 Close the close-up.

Direct Valanice toward the northern exit.

While she is still walking toward that exit, click on the statue’s body to
 redirect her.

Try different positions on the statue if necessary; the behavior may
depend on the timing and clicked position.

 Expected result:
Valanice should remain within the walkable area and should not walk onto
 the statue.

 Actual result:
Valanice can move onto the statue’s body. The attached screenshot shows
her on its upper torso beside the necklace, with her sprite appearing very
 small.

 Additional information:
I previously encountered this behavior in ScummVM 2026.3.0 and have
reproduced it in 2026.4.0. I have not established whether it also occurs
 with Sierra’s original interpreter.

Operating system: PikaOS (Linux, Debian-based rolling release)

 ScummVM version: 2026.4.0.

 Attachments:

 **UPDATE — OCTOBER 20, 2026**

I've confirmed that this bug is also present in the ScummVM development
 build dated October 20, 2026.

I've narrowed down the precise steps needed to reproduce it:

 1. Start a new game in Chapter 1 and walk directly to the statue on the
far left of the desert scene.
 2. Examine the statue's necklace and close the close-up view.
 3. Move the cursor toward the northern exit, above and beyond the statue,
until the exit arrow appears. Click there to direct Valanice toward the
 exit.
 4. While she's walking toward the exit, interrupt her movement by clicking
directly on the statue's right elbow or sleeve (from the player's
 perspective).

Valanice will then walk toward the statue and move outside the intended
 walking boundaries.

The exact click location is important. Clicking elsewhere on the statue
 generally doesn't reproduce the problem.

I've reproduced this behavior both from a new game and from a restored
save. No inventory items need to be collected or used, and no other
 puzzles need to be completed.

The bug is reproducible in both ScummVM 2026.4.0 and the October 20, 2026
 development build.
