 I have text in this version as well...

 So my only idea is that you are missing fonts and .ini points to different
 place. PhoenixVR hover lables are rendered from textes.txt using NotoSans-
 Regular.ttf or NotoSans-Bold.ttf loaded from ScummVM’s fonts.dat. If
 loading fails, rollover() silently returns without showing text.

 So please verify this: unzip -l /path/to/your/fonts.dat | rg
 'NotoSans-(Regular|Bold)\.ttf'

 Both files must be present. An old or corrupted fonts.dat, especially one
 in ScummVM’s configured Extra Path, can override the correct installed
 archive. Replacing it with the fonts.dat shipped alongside the same
 ScummVM build should fix that.
