WE have a proverb in German "Wahret den
Anfängen" ("Beware the beginning" Ugh, very bad translation), which
means that sometimes you should not let something small slip through,
because if you do, you just made a small opening, through which
something bigger slips through. Which widens the opening. Rince and
repeat. We germans have bad experiences with that, historically...
----------------------------
"Put a frog in boiling water, and he will jump out in protest. Put a frog in
lukewarm water and very slowly raise it to a boil, and he will boil to death
never noticing the incremental changes."
I agree wholeheartedly with the concept, however it's put. It has burned the
Germans before, and it is burning the U.S. now. (How else do we Americans
tolerate wealth redistribution constituting 48% of the federal budget[1]?
Even that is only the Beginning....)
It can also burn the ScummVM project if we are not careful. Sometimes
maintaining the status quo is the best course of action. Let us make sure
not to cram new stuff in for no better reason than, "Because we can" or, "Is
there any reason not to?".
Two cents' worth from someone who is, in all fairness, still quite out of
the loop at this time. :)

Wealth redistribution percentage is based on the sum of all "means-tested
entitlements" (payouts to citizens of reduced financial means, thus,
expenses that are paid for by other citizens) and mandatory retirement
investments (Social Security and Medicare), which at this time are paid for
by the "investments" of today's workers, not the past investments of those
people who are now retired and receiving payouts. Based on the 2001 federal
budget.
