It doesn't mimic the layout of a GDROM, actually, but that of a
"MIL-CD", which is also proprietary, but different from GDROM and
based on regular capacity discs.  The "MIL-CD" was intended for
supplemental interactive content on regular music CD:s, kind of like
CD+G et al.  Support for it was removed in the latest releases of
Dreamcast firmware, due to being exploited by software pirates.
