This would be a great idea - for the more obscure projects it would let
people know what the current progress is, and help save any work from being
lost. Particularly in the early stages, technical information could be
posted which could then be later used by someone else if the original
author(s) drop the project.

Additionally, for the more popular projects where multiple people are
working on, there may be technical conversations going on between several of
the developers, such as using an IM client, which could usefully be posted
later on such a blog so that the others are kept up to date as to why
certain decisions were made.
