Regarding the patch/source; it looks mostly complete - they kindly
didn't include the project file so it would need some effort to build,
and of course lacks the new graphics they're using, so would be useless
without placeholders or stripping out the code that uses it.
As I've expressed in the past I'm not really happy with these
re-releases, and the amount of money they're making with it (the first
release literally was a 30 minute hackjob), although it's a good thing
they're offering a share of the profits, and I strongly feel we should
take them up on it.
There are many things we could use the money for (GSoC mentor expenses,
helping fund a 1.0 release party, etc). I do feel the money belongs to
us, so we should receive it, even if there is no immediate use for it.
I'd be willing to help / use my personal PayPal and deal with the
tax-headache for this if no better solution can be found.
On a related note I also find it disappointing that none of the IP
owners contacted us for 'first dibs', seeing as we did all the hard work.
According to their Simon 1 page they're distributing James Woodcock's
music alongside - are they allowed to do this? (CC'ing James on this
email).
Regards,
Joost
