Wouldn't these issue, be best handled by using an optional virtual
keyboard? like used by other backends.

Well the save game name is automatically chosen, if you use the quick
saving. Although not all game engines offer quick loading/saving of
saved games.

The load/save system is script based, in all games using the AGOS
engine. So it would not be possible to trigger via a pre defined key.

The AGOS game engine does frequent draws to the screen, which has caused 
performance issues in the past. Improved handling of dirty rects in the 
backend, usually improves the performance though.
