I stand corrected, and you're right about the embedded platforms :)
Maybe an alternative would be an embedded red text "ScummVM vxx.x" overlay in the lower right corner in the screen for the first 3 seconds of in-game.
It wouldn't delay loading and it does watermark quite nicely.
Seems quite easy to do to with what we've got.
