Hu? This would be just one of many ScummVM config settings. Why should we show that in the installer? Should we then also show the scaler, MIDI device etc. settings in the installer? Is it normal for Windows apps to ask the user for such settings in the installer? (I recently installed a lot of stuff on a windows machine and never saw this, but maybe that's due to the selection of software I installed).

The option would be accessible from the option dialogs in the launcher, and perhaps also in the in-game main menu (although I am not so sure whether it would be that helpful, as it would be mostly relevant for startup).

Well, the suggestion is to have it a user-changeable option whether to always show the console or not; so users who prefer the current behavior can get it back with one click. There would also be a command line option. And possibly a hotkey to show/hide the console on the fly. Travis voiced some concerns that this would wreak havoc if used in fullscreen mode; but that is easily addressed by delaying the showing/hiding until back to windowed mode. So far I am not aware of any other issues.
So, no, as far as I can tell you have not really overlooked anything. Travis might disagree, though :)
Cheers,
