[I sent this privately to Max, who asked that I send it to scummvm-devel
for wider discussion]
Hi Max,
Since we last exchanged emails a couple of years ago (regarding removing
my CVS commit access) there have been a couple of bursts of progress on
the MT-32 emulator. It's finally getting into shape for a new release,
and I'd be happy to merge the latest version into ScummVM when it's
ready - whether by patch, forking or directly pushing to the official
git repo.
I'm happy to update the integrated version of the emulator, though I
would prefer to remove that and instead detect and link with the
official static link library we produce. I believe I raised this
possibility on the scummvm-devel ml years ago and it was rejected,
though - let me know if there's a change of heart.
Executive summary:
- A very much enhanced version of the MT-32 emulator will be ready in a
few weeks.
- I'd be happy to update ScummVM with the new version.
- If you want that, let me know in what way to make the change (replace
ScummVM's copy of the emulator or link with the static library) and how
to get the change to you.
Regards,
Jerome
