For those who weren't around (or forgot about it), there was a similar discussion in May, most of which can be found here:
https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm/commit/3c59e37035742ce843f3e12039b5169e4bdd0168#commitcomment-384680

Personally I don't have a strong opinion on how the engines should be named, although I would tend to go with the real engine name when it is known. But I would like to stress that I think it is important to have the same engine name everywhere (to avoid further confusion), and this includes the wiki, the credits, the MetaEngine and the directory name in scummvm/engines/.

For the question raised about game <-> engine mapping (e.g. 'I'm looking for game X, what supports it?'), isn't the wiki good enough (e.g. if you go to the list of games and then go to the game page you have the engine name here).
One problem is that currently there is no list of supported game in there other that the datafile page which doesn't link to the game pages. http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Category:Unsupported_Games has a lot of games but http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Category:Supported_Games only has one game :O. I will start populating this category but help is welcome. After that we can add a link to this page from the menu on the right.
