[Scummvm-devel] ScummVM License as GPL3

Hi,

My personal opinion at the moment is that I don’t think the upsides of
preventing TiVoisation and using RetroArch scalers outweigh the big
downside of preventing GPLv2 projects from using ScummVM code. I also
share some of somaen’s concerns about the relative complexity of the
license. As such, I am currently against an upgrade to GPLv3.

As far as the practical matter of using RetroArch scalers goes, it
sounds like someone just needs to reach out to them again to get a
formal written agreement to allow use of the shaders, since they already
agreed in the past? I can provide the legalese that they just need to
sign, if desired. (It is deeply unfortunate that the FSF managed to make
its own licenses incompatible in this way.)

Best regards,
