Summary: SIMON2: Castle guards and gate are bugged
Initial Comment:
When Simon talks to the castle guards and refuses to
pay the bribe (either you don't have the money yet or
choose not to pay) he normally walks off the screen and
back to the city. During the few seconds it takes for
Simon to exit the screen the mouse pointer becomes
active again. If you at this time click on the gate
Simon will walk right through the guards' axes and
presents his Royal Wizard ID card, regardless of
whether he has actually got it yet or not. Also if you
click on the ground instead of the gate you can stay in
the area and try to talk to the guards. If I remember
correctly, this was possible to do in the original
version also (staying in the screen that is, not
walking past the guards), however talking to them
should've triggered the usual 'have you got our money
yet?' dialogue. Instead in ScummVM this will produce
the line "I think I'll leave them to it, in case they
remember some more expenses." which would in the
original come up only after you'd paid them.
This can be easily reproduced by simply starting a new
game and going straight to the castle from the start.
ScummVM version used: 0.8.2 and 0.9.0svn (Feb 27 2006
17:24:37)
Game version: English DOS CD (talkie)
