 Yep, the assertion error happens as soon as I hit the "Start" button.

 I just re-downloaded the game files from http://outpost.simplicity.de/ and
 I can still reproduce the issue, so I', tempted to rule out file
 corruptions (at least on my end, I can't verify if the game files are
 intact on the site itself).
