 Yes you're exactly correct - the delay is "correct" in that the script
 delay is correctly executed, but the delay from loading the next scene
 originally caused it to stay on the screen longer so that was somewhat
 baked in to the wait length in the script.

 This is also the reason for the intro screens going by a little bit too
 quickly.  I'm not sure what the correct fix is here, but it might need
 some experimentation in dosbox to try and get the right feeling.  It would
 have to be applied selectively though as there's no good reason to delay
 regular scene transitions - that's one of the things that makes it a
 slightly annoying experience to play in dosbox!
