 Hello again, thank you for reporting this. I may have just reproduced the
 problem, but I'm not sure exactly what I did.

 Could you please zip up and attach all of the files in your ScummVM save
 directory that start with "phantasmagoria"? The "pref.dat" file contains
 the game's preferences, and the save data is scattered across several
 files.

 I am very interested if there are any phantasmagoria files in your save
 directory with names that end in `.tmp`, because that's what I just saw,
 and that is evidence of a failure to write a save file. Although, at this
 point they may have been deleted during later successful save attempts. I
 have several suspects in mind, but before I get too deep I'd like to make
 sure we're seeing the same thing.
