 This is not a duplicate, this is a ScummVM incompatibility resulting from
 that PR.

 The problem is that our change (2018) alters messages at runtime, but
 Ash's QFG4 Update (2021) fixed the same bug with new scripts. The two
 solutions are incompatible because Ash's scripts are receiving
 unexpectedly different messages on ScummVM than the original.

 I looked into this a while ago, and came away thinking we should revisit
 our original approach to this bug. It's painfully tedious, but I would
 like this to get resolved.
