Yeah, i agree (though after like 50% of your posts i was honestly asking
myself if i made someone solve virtual gamepads lol)
i have mainly used it in Grim Fandango and it took me a solid 30 seconds
to manage to shove myself out of the start room, mainly because of
turning. using left and right to turn feels very imprecise and weird, i
honestly dont think theres a better way to do it with a D-Pad, but
honestly, an analog stick would feel better for it as there would be no
need to turn before walking (you can just move the stick to the direction
you want to go) but thats probably more of an engine-level issue than an
issue with controls.
and the keyboard. i genuinely just figured out how to open it after
reading your posts. its like on discord where you can double tap messages
to go to DMs (ik weird example), the only way you'll figure that out is by
reading a random post from discord support on X. there is no way you'd
figure out you can do that without fiddling around with the button for
like 2 minutes and accidentally opening it. that is ***not*** good UX. it
should be obvious you can open it, not a puzzle.
im gonna draw up an example of what i'd like it to look like, ill attach
it in another post.
