 recommendation: download the latest development build, copy acwin.exe and
 SDL.dll into the game's folder (download ags-archive), and launch the game
 using acwin.exe. You shouldn't have any more issues that way:

 I have tried it and it works fine, but there is no aspect ratio correction
 (the game was designed for CRT monitors) and the text in the disclaimer
 before the intro is bugged.
