 Well, if the second fix is correct the first one isn't needed any more.

 Surprisingly (to me), it opened a debug console. A more bare-bones
 version, with only the clear, cls, debugflag_disable, debugflag_enable,
 debugflag_list, debuglevel, exec, exit, help, md5, md5mac, openlog, and
 quit commands.
