[Scummvm-devel] SCUMMVM suddenly very slow

I've just tried firing up ScummVM again, wanting to replay some old games, and
have discovered that to my horror it's now horribly, catastrophically slow.
It's so slow I can see the ScummVM redrawing bits of the screen; a full
refresh takes about 500ms.

This is on a system that I can normally play full-screen video on with xlib
calls, if I so wished.

The only difference I can see from when I last used it is that I *may* be
using xorg rather than xfree86. My system is a Debian Sarge box; it's using
ScummVM 0.7.1. Other applications run fine, at full speed, but when ScummVM
is running the entire system slows to a crawl.

Does this look at all familiar to anyone? Can anyone suggest what information
might be useful?
