 That was helpful, thanks. I was able to find one possible cause - when you
 return from in-game to the opening screen, it doesn't properly reset all
 the game flags. This may be why your game ended up in an invalid state.
 And saving the game simply perpetuated the issue. I'll look into add extra
 resets to fix the problem.
